Hi everyone. Starting introducing myself I would like to say in the first place that I have no vested interests in opposing this or that, of which I was already accused by a famous MD from California.
I am a First Class graduate in BSc Human Nutrition (Hons), passionate about the knowledge and an objective truth. I aim to learn and help others to learn about nutrition and facts, not fiction. For those who would be more interested in my personality profile, I have found myself to be INTJ, according the Jung's personality test. Those who are familiar with this, know what that means :). So, all this is just a pure passion for knowledge, truth, objectivity and efficiency - if we want to beat the current trends in chronic metabolic diseases induced by a wrong lifestyle, we should be realistic and factual.
The first lot of articles will be about debunking or opposing the presented information about fructose and metabolic syndrome. This includes sugar and other caloric sweeteners, containing fructose. The reason for this is that my dissertation topic was exactly the same: Fructose and Metabolic Syndrome. I researched this topic in more depth and therefore I think that I have a lot to say to oppose sometimes one-sided information presented to the audience. Now you may start guessing that the famous MD I mentioned earlier was Dr Lustig. It was his famous lecture in 2009 Sugar: The bitter truth that was the starting point of my interest in this topic. When firstly watching it by chance I was as amazed as many others. And the fact that I did my own research on it is the main reason why I am focusing on it so much. The intensity and detail of my articles may suggest an obsession, but let me tell you that there is nothing personal in it, even despite the accusing article once written in contrary to my objective claims against the information presented by Dr Lustig. Moreover, I am neither funded by any industry nor being in anybody's pocket, as some of his followers suggested when he published that article.
The facts are my priority, regardless of who is talking. That includes me. So if you will think that my information is not correct or up to date, please say so. All I require is a certain level of politeness. Haters and trolls will be deleted instantly.
I also welcome your suggestions for future articles. If you have come across some nutrition claim you are puzzled with, please bring it to my attention, I will look at it. I no longer have access to all studies in full content in the peer-reviewed journals, but I will do my best to evaluate the information and write my opinion, at least.
Overall, I endorse the attempts of anyone to cut down the consumption of processed food (of any kind, not just containing sugar) and to go back to eating a real food. I have done that myself. I have managed to gradually shed 10 kg over the past 5 years, without yo-yo-ing, getting into a healthy BMI reange now. I feel great. I have achieved that while still remaining in the same environment as I was before, just because of the knowledge and my dedication. I am now healthier and in a better shape than anyone of my family was at my age. That means that I have even beaten the odds of the genes or predisposition for metabolic diseases that might have been running in my family.
Things can be done with the right set of mind, knowledge and dedication.
